Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, while Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn in the aisle. There are certain aisle widths to consider with various units.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks can operate in less than 6 feet places, whilst some will utilize specific guidance systems such as wire, optical or rail systems in order to travel in the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks consist of Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are common models in compact retail spaces and in several storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks can work within aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Normally these are stand-up models such as Reach Trucks. They are commonly used within warehouses and storage facilities.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work within aisles that are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard which is made to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the operator is big and has an 8" low step height which helps reduce overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The model includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and therefore more effective while limiting exhaustion.
