Rough Terrain Forklift

The rough terrain forklift is best for applications at construction sites and various locations where there is no paved surface. This type of forklift is used to transport materials around lumberyards.

These forklifts are designed for rough terrain. However, the machine is top heavy and should be carefully handled in rough locations. The equipment must be level with all tires on the ground when lifting.

Steering is more difficult at faster speeds. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not set speed limitations on forklifts. Then again, operators are responsible for operating forklifts at a speed that is safe, especially if turning and driving on rough terrain.

To prevent a tip over, never raise a load whilst operating on an incline. The load must be on the uphill side of the equipment when driving up a slope. When driving down an incline, it is good safety practice to back down.
