During the year 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed lots of customers and therefore, the name was established.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the demand for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the demand for new machinery to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. Like for instance, Genie went into manufacturing man-lifts, articulated booms, light towers telehandlers and stick booms.
Due to the economic slump during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who had the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers throughout the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the first years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Hence, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machines.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machinery are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machine must be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC equipment together with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach, compared to any of the different aerial platforms. These machines are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all kinds of settings.
