During 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case founded Case within Racine. He began building threshing machinery. The company later gained international recognition as the first builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. In time, the company grew to become the world's largest maker of steam engines.
Case had established themselves in the construction machinery industry by 1912. They became a producer of road building machinery including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction machinery company through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top manufacturer of medium-sized to light-sized construction equipment.
Case merged with the company New Holland in the year 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising several of the world's leading brands of agricultural and construction machines.
