Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas tidy and to store supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This version consists of telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This model is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is needed inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and could maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
